The 2024 Election: Lessons Learned and the Path Forward for Voter-Approved Children’s Funds

On January 16, 2025, advocates behind the campaigns for voter-approved children’s funds that went to the ballot in 2024 shared insights into their campaign process and timeline—from building a base of motivated supporters, to designing policy and crafting a ballot measure, to running a full-fledged electoral campaign during a national election cycle.

Children’s Funding Project and Funding the Next Generation staff members also provided details about how we supported these campaigns, highlighted opportunities to learn from experts in this field (including the 2025 Children’s Funding Institute), and discussed the path forward for local advocates in the children’s funding movement.
