Natalie Mudd Brooks

Natalie Mudd Brooks is a Senior Fiscal Mapping Associate at Children’s Funding Project and is passionate about community well-being and evidence-based decision-making and policymaking.

Natalie has worked as a consultant to the fiscal mapping team since Spring 2022 and officially transferred her role to Children’s Funding Project in Summer 2026. Her previous role was as a Data Analyst at the Community Innovation and Action Center (CIAC) at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. At CIAC, her role heavily involved cross-collaboration between the two organizations and helping build the fiscal mapping infrastructure with her capacity support. She is an expert fiscal and budget analyst and has created an inventory of children and youth programs across various states, turning that data into fiscal maps. Throughout her time fiscal mapping, she has presented her fiscal map work on a number of webinars and contributed her expertise to advocates to help further the work. Her practice has aided and contributed to the passing of a ballot measure in Travis County, Texas and helped the Children’s Cabinet of Nevada ground its early childhood council to participate in informed decision-making at the state advocacy level. She approaches her work through a lens of equity, creativity, and attention to detail.

She holds a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Social Work from Baylor University. Prior to her work on fiscal mapping, she served a year as an AmeriCorps Vista where she discovered a true passion for coalition building and convening community partners to improve outcomes for families. Natalie calls St. Louis, Missouri home and enjoys crocheting, baking, and spending time outdoors.
